Set during Poland’s transition from communism to capitalism, the film spans 45 years in the life of Aniela Wesoła – a woman who spent more than half of her adult life living as a man in a provincial town.

Aniela’s journey toward personal freedom as a transgender woman also explores the complexities of marriage, parenthood, and strained family relationships. Each step she takes is met with misunderstanding, social pressure, and seemingly impossible choices. What decisions lie ahead for Aniela? And what will she be willing to sacrifice in order to become who she truly is?
