Are you curious why representation is crucial for queer emancipation? Join us for a panel discussion on the new book Obrazy jiné touhy: Queer Art and Visuality in the Czech Lands.
What stories do the images of the past and present (not) tell? Why does it matter who is seen, how they are seen — and who remains invisible?
Published in 2024 by Brno University of Technology, this collective volume raises vital questions about visibility, representation, queer history, and the role of visual culture in emancipation. The contributing authors challenge the boundaries between what is considered art and what shapes our everyday perception of reality.
The program includes a panel discussion with the book’s editor, art historian Ladislav Jackson, along with other members of the authorial team. Together, we will explore why images can be such powerful tools — and sometimes even weapons.
The book will be available for purchase at the event at a special discounted price of 550 CZK.
