The peaceful charm of a Belgian village and the fairly simple life of fourteen-year-old Elias are disrupted by new neighbors moving into the house across the street. Most notably, there’s Alexander, his new classmate and friend, who is the same age. Or is it something more?

Elias is suddenly confronted with feelings he's never experienced before, confusing and unsettling attraction that he doesn't fully understand and feels ashamed of. How can he tell his family, his friends at school, and his “girlfriend” Valeria that his heart beats faster only when he's with Alexander? The same Alexander who is clear about his sexuality and openly admits to Elias that he’s into guys.

In his confusion, Elias, afraid of losing both Alexander and Valeria and terrified of public judgment, gets more and more tangled in lies. It’s only his grandfather who reveals the great secret to him: love is exceptional, and it would be a sin to let it slip through your fingers.
