A Normal Detective Comedy at Divadlo Husa na provázku In response to the rejection of the marriage equality bill, Tereza Volánková wrote A Normal Detective Comedy (about who broke the family). The play brings situational humor, an ensemble-driven performance, and a deeper dive into themes of normality and traditional values.

The audience can look forward not only to the beloved Brno actor Jan Kolařík in the lead role of a self-proclaimed detective, but to almost the entire ensemble of Husa na provázku. “What would the world look like if marriage for all couples were legalized? People would start marrying mailboxes, traditional families would collapse, and the world would simply stop being normal. But what does it actually mean to be normal? We didn’t want to just respond to a specific political event—it served rather as a springboard to explore the idea of normality, normativity, and tradition in relation to family and its values,” says director Tereza Volánková. Come for a dose of laughter, absurd questions, and maybe even a little aha moment.
