Returning to the places you hoped to leave behind Přerov, the early 2000s. A thirteen-year-old boy in a world where closeness brings anxiety rather than support. An absent father, a silent mother, and the growing realization of being "different" in an environment fueled by latent racism and homophobia.
Based on Marek Torčík’s award-winning autofictional novel, this production explores the fragile nature of memory. The protagonist escapes the trauma of his small-town upbringing by moving to Prague, only to be forced back by his grandfather’s death. Director Ondřej Štefaňák and author Marek Torčík draw on their shared personal histories to ask: Can we ever truly overcome the past, or do the places of our childhood define us forever? A powerful probe into identity and the memories that remain etched within us, whether we want them to or not.
